The age of Artificial Intelligence is dawning on us and most are skeptical as to what it will bring. Talk of robots taking over the workplace has sent people into a frenzy. Automated cars are creating a divide on what constitutes as proper road safety and what derails it. Most households have already welcomed AI-powered assistants into their families, expecting the day to arrive where a voice gadget magically transforms into a nanny that does the dishes and babysits.

The truth, though, is that AI is already offering society more sustainable means of its technology, integrating itself into the most discreet and obscure corners of our everyday lives. AI can be found in our security systems, surveillancing and protecting cities everywhere with ID capabilities and alert features. AI is at the other end of our conversations, posing as chatbots and customer service agents that aim to please our every need. It’s enhancing our favorite social media platforms and mobile applications, and most importantly, it’s contributing to some of the greatest medical advancements of our time. AI isn’t to be feared; it’s to be respected and welcomed for the features and capabilities that it brings our world. Here are a few examples to prove it.

It may seem bleak to admit, but at this point in time, we’re living in a world where it’s necessary to look around you for suspicious people and objects that pose a threat. Cities, infrastructure, and even some personal homes are installing recognition systems powered by AI technology that can secure them in a time of crisis or panic. AnyVision is a great example of this type of AI use; the human recognition company uses AI to detect, scan, and analyze threats that enter its camera view. Once detected, the system has the ability to send an alert to the authorities and those at risk. With a surveillance system like AnyVision’s, deterring threats from entering a specific vicinity or guarded area is more possible and more trustworthy, because of its AI capabilities.

There are two standing testaments of effective medical care thanks to AI. Zebra Medical  Vision, the first example, helps radiologists all over the world receive fast, accurate scan analysis almost instantly. This medtech company uses  machine and deep learning and leverages big data so that caregivers can do their job better. Their use of AI has produced algorithms that help diagnose breast cancer, heart attacks, and other diseases. ART Medical, another company improving patient care by leveraging AI solutions, utilizes advanced algorithms for its smart tube system that automates the placement of feeding tubes, and detection of gastric content aspiration to improve clinical outcomes in ICUs. ART Medical’s smART system monitors and detects abnormalities for intubated patients to help prevent unwanted complications during hospitalization, such as ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).

These few examples alone are enough to make you ask, “What would we do without AI?” – right? Artificial Intelligence really is everywhere, and it shouldn’t be a secret. Its not trying to take over our universe like Thanos in The Avengers: Infinity War. It’s here to work beside us and make a difference where it counts. Take notice next time you encounter an incredible gadget, a flawless working system, or even a super helpful chatbot. AI is probably the reason for that.
