LeWeb08 Disappointing? Whatever!

There have been many critical reports of LeWeb08, however I must say that I really enjoyed it.  Here are some of my more memorable moments:

With Loic Le Meur and Ravit Lichtenberg @MySpace party

Sweet Scoble, taken by Andrea Vascellari

Loren Feldman from 1938media (aka voice behind Loic puppet)

The great Doc Searls, author of The Cluetrain Manifesto, taken by Andrea Vascellari

Chris Heuer, founder of the Social Media Club

So to all those who complained about the unstable Wi-Fi, supposedly “bad” food (which I actually thought was delicious), and cold temperatures – Whatever!  For me,  it was all about the amazing company.

Below check out this very cool pics widget created for me by Adrian Measures from fotonauts. fotonauts were the official photographers of LeWeb08. The company was founded by Jean-Marie Hullot who is the original father of the iPhone. When I asked Adrian what fotonauts is all about, he said (in a cute French accent):  ”We do what Flickr does but we do more and better”. I highly recommend you all check ‘em out. From what I’ve seen so far, they are definitely on to something incorporating more social features than are found on Flickr plus their interface is just beautiful!

  • sure looks like you had fun to me! Debbie Downers are never fun to be around with :P

  • Agreed that sitting around with an Internet connection was not high up on my priorities for the conference, although I still find it surprising it wasn’t working. Networking and promotion is why people go to these things.

The food indeed was delicious, but not necessarily very filling and perhaps more frustratingly: you had to literally fight your way through the crowds to get at any and couldn’t take any until organisers deemed it OK to do so. In this respect Slush Helsinki worked a lot better (and the food was great).

From a networking point of view the event itself was excellent with just about everyone there who should’ve been. Now it’s up to us and other startups to use the new contacts made. The sauna was excellent, of course :-)

  • Hey Kristoffer:

The sauna was definitely exciting! That post with Scoble coming out of the sauna is coming soon :-)
Good to hear from you mate! Hope all is well in Helsinki!

  • Always glad to follow an thoughtful blog. Thanks for the input. In addition, apart from the content, the design of your website is really nice. Is that a custom theme?
